Delightful Arthur/Morgana outtake from the pilot script!

I take no credit for this, it's a great find by [info]r_u_k_i_a over at [info]merlinbbc: you can now read the script of episode 1 of Merlin here.

There is a wonderful Arthur/Morgana scene which warms my heart, because, yes, this pairing is canon. Copy/pasted from the script with some formatting to make it easier on the eyes...

Context: At the banquet at the end of episode 1, just before Mary Collins makes her grand entrance, and after the "God have mercy" scene we all know and love :)

ARTHUR and MORGANA take their seats opposite one another. They smile...

ARTHUR (lying) Oh, I didn’t see you arrive, Morgana.
MORGANA Oh, and I didn’t notice you were here or I would’ve come over, Arthur.
ARTHUR I’ve got to say - that is an absolutely gorgeous dress.

MORGANA looks at him ...

ARTHUR Have you seen it? The woman just behind you, she looks fantastic.
MORGANA (smiling) Yes, I saw her earlier, she was with that really handsome man.
ARTHUR Not your type.
MORGANA You don’t know my type.
ARTHUR Yes, I do. The ones you have to chase.
MORGANA (she picks up a chicken drumstick) No, I like the ones who have to beg.

She looks down at a large hound sitting eagerly hoping for some scraps. She teases it with the drumstick and then delights in stuffing the chicken leg in her mouth. The dog tilts its head and whimpers.

This. Made. My. Day. Morgana kicks ass. Arthur is so jealous when he says "Not your type", aw!! And the last bit with Morgana teasing the dog is priceless. Although I can imagine them cutting it out when Katie protests that it's not ladylike to stuff one's face with a chicken leg.

Also in the pilot: lashings of Merlin/Gwen, Merlin/Morgana, a tiny cut-out bit of Gwen/Morgana dialogue and a hilariously extended Merlin/Arthur second fight (topless!). Also, and I think this will anger the Morgana/Uther fans: a whole scene devoted to Mary/Uther (hello, twenty-year age gap at least). I think this jewel has something to fuel the fandom for a while yet...

OH MY LORD. I love that! Hee, more snark, wish they kept it as a deleted scene or something so we could enjoy it and pretend it was always there. I'm not too fond of the teasing the dog part, though. :P I'm too much of an animal lover!

Yeah, I'm sort of with you. That makes me like Morgana a little less -- it makes her seem more cruel than she really is.

D'aww. Arthur's playing hard to get! Much as I would love to have had more Arthur / Morgana, I can see why they cut this scene--it doesn't make Morgana look overly sympathetic, what with the dog-teasing.

I so wish we'd had more of them. Such a fun pairing! Always challenging each other, not settling for the easy answer. . . .*sigh*

Ahahahahaha I saw that yesterday xD God if they needed 50 mn instead of 40 and a few, they should have extended it, this scene was awesome (The God have Mercy is already Woah, but with this...ahahaha they choose to keep the first real teasings between them for Ep 2 I guess.)

So I'm thinking that they wanted to make Morgana bitchy from the get go which would've made her NOT my favourite character. I'm kinda glad they cut that part out. I'm sure KM probably had something to do with that and YAY for her looking out and protecting the character. *nod*

I don't know, I actually am kind of glad they cut that, it doesn't make Morgana look that great and seems a little OOC to me (especially the ending). But it is nice they had more A/Mo anyway!

And wasn't there a whole scene dedicated to Mary/Uther *anyway* in the pilot?
